When you are developing a game as a hobby, you won't make a detailed
plan of your game - because, if you do so, you'll see what a lot of work
you're facing. In this case, most people loose their courage. So - you
begin with a little experiment, and you are adding one feature after the
next. The problem is, that you realise your faults in the design when your
game is nearly ready. So - if you're thinking of developing a game like
Enemy Territory - you should try to avoid making the same errors like me:
Take the time and think about the case, that the computer, on that the
game is running, might be too slow to handle hundreds of armies. My second
problem is, that the strategy to win the game is too simple: The player
just has to drag the armies to the front and hope that they win. There
is nothing for the player to think about. He can't do anything wrong. It's
no challenge to play the game. I hope, you'll have more success when developing
your game. Good luck!
